Features and General Information:

What they will fit

The bipods are quickly detachable and clamp to the Q.D. stud of conventional design bolt action rifles. They will also fit some single shot rifles, pistols and others with proper adapters. However, be aware that Harris Bipods are not suitable for all firearms.

How good, performance wise are the bipods?

If you can, ask a man who uses one. The positive attachment makes a steady hold easier by eliminating any shifting or movement between gun and res, and the bipod is always there when you need it.

The sitting position often allows shooting over ground vegetation. Whereas the prone position, with practice, allows nearly complete accuracy potential from a rifle. Models BR, L and LM in addition to being prone rests, work superbly well from a bench nest. The Bipods will not change the zero or effect accuracy of rifles due. This is in part due to its lightweight construction as well as the unlocked legs which pivot slightly with recoil. The pivoting legs prevent the fore-end from being forced up against the barrel.

The base has leather pads on contact area to protect stock. Additionally, carrying with a sling or shooting off-hand us not impeded by the Bipods.

Suggestions for Attachment:

The purpose of the big headed flange nuts is to provide more support for the sling stud on thin walled fore-ends. A bipod exerts more pull on the stud than a carrying sling.

Selection of the right stud for the job at hand is a matter of judgement. Examine gun with stock removed or take to gunsmith.

1.) With the gun unloaded and the bolt out, remove barrel and action from stock. Not all injected molded stocks are practical for the application of the #2 bipod adapters. You should return fiberglass stocks to the manufacturer or gunsmith for proper fitting of sling stud.

2.) On conventionally shaped stocks, place the stud about 1 1/4 inch from the start of the stock’s fore-end radius. (This is about 2 3/4 on Ruger Mod. M-77 RP MK. II. Use #2 on this Ruger.)

3.) Drop the flanged nut in the stock in the desired position and drill through the threaded shank with a 5/32 drill, the flanged nut thus acts as a drill guide. The drilled hole is then enlarged with a 3/16 drill to accept stud. The bipod will be canted if the stud is not perfectly placed in the center. Further, to better fit the barrel channel, you may alter (grind) any of the flanged nuts. Do not try to use file on flange, this is hardened material.

4.) After installing stud attach bipod to check proper function.

5.) If the stud is satisfactorily positioned, then remove flanged nut and put epoxy cement under area covered by the flange, screw the stud back in immediately.
